This new edition contains a chapter on Arabic music, including additional photographs and line drawings of instruments and scores. Other sections have been updated and the Guide to Further Reading has been greatly expanded. The cloth edition contains over 90 full-color illustrations. These are reproduced in black and white in the paperback edition.
