These were The changes thus far made are chiefly from edition 1. almost inevitable, for in its great growth to edition 2, the full tables of the first edition became merely a table of contents for subsequent editions. It has now settled into permanent form, as its adoption in over 200 libraries renders further changes impracticable except for very weighty reasons. A list of changes and errata was sent every registered owner of edition 1, and also printed on p. 45-7 of the Introduction to edition 2. A similar list of errata, with the few changes found necessary, was sent all subscribers to edition 2; and remaining typografical errors. are corrected, it is hoped, in the list sent herewith to owners of editions 3 and 4. The only way to make these corrections of any value is to go thru your copy and make the changes with a pen. Please send me, for the benefit of others, any further corrections or additions that you note as desirable.
