THE LEEDS PHILOSOPHICAL AND LITERARY SOCIETY consists of

the following Classes of Members and Subscribers :

(1.) ORIGINAL PROPRIETARY MEMBERS (holding £100 Shares), who are entitled to personal admission to the Museum, Library, Lectures, Conversazione, and all other Meetings of the Society, and to two transferable tickets to admit visitors to the Lectures and Conversazione. They are exempt from Annual Subscription.

(2.) NEW PROPRIETARY MEMBERS (holding £50 Shares), who are entitled to similar personal privileges, and to two transferable tickets. Subscription, LI IS. per annum.

(3.) ORIGINAL ORDINARY MEMBERS (holding £3 3s. Shares), who are entitled to similar personal privileges, and to one transferable ticket. Subscription, £2 2s. per annum.

(4.) NEW ORDINARY MEMBERS (holding £20 Shares), who are entitled to similar personal privileges, and to one transferable ticket. Subscription, I IS. per annum.

The following are entitled to personal admission to the Museum, Library, Lectures, and Conversazione, but not to business meetings; nor have they any transferable tickets to admit visitors :

(5.) HONORARY MEMBERS, elected on the recommendation of the Council.

(6.) SUBSCRIBERS of £1 Is. per annum.

(7.) SUBSCRIBERS of 7s. 6d. per annum, being Ladies or Young Persons resident with Members, or with Subscribers in Class (6).

IMPORTANT RULE

RESPECTING THE

PROPERTY OF THE SOCIETY.

In the event of a dissolution of the Society, its property and effects, whether real or personal, shall not be disposed of for the individual benefit of the Members, but shall be appropriated for the advancement of Science, Literature, or Art in the Town of Leeds; and the mode of such appropriation shall, as to the proceeds of the real Estate, be determined by a majority of the Proprietary Members, and as to the proceeds of the personal Estate by a majority of both Proprietary and Ordinary Members, voting at Meetings convened specially for the purpose.

The Society shall be dissolved if the total number of Members (Proprietary and Ordinary) be reduced below fifty; and it shall be at any time lawful to dissolve it with the consent in writing of a majority of Members holding not less than two-thirds of the Proprietary Shares for the time being.
