(Long was not himself the Traveller, but an Agent or Broker, in London, for the Northern Trade of America, and compiled the Book from the narrative of a half-savage interpreter and trader named Knowles, whom I repeatedly conversed with, but whose name does not once occur in the journal.)-W. M.
