INTERNATIONAL COPYRIGHT WITH AMERICA.-It may be worth consideration, in the event of a visit during the next few months of many of our literary and scientific friends from America, whether some arrangements may not be made for prosecuting to success so desirable an object as the establishment of an international law for the benefit of the authors and publishers of both countries. The Editor of the "Publishers' Circular" will be happy to receive any communications and hints bearing upon this subject, as preliminary to the formation of a Committee or otherwise.

IN recording the death of MR. SAMUEL BAGSTER, one of the oldest of the present race of booksellers, we would venture to offer a word in recognition of the deep debt due to himself and family for what they have done towards the circulation, and assistance rendered to the student and the Christian in the reading, of the Holy Scriptures. It is impossible to give an account here of all the labours brought to bear upon the various editions, and the various languages in which the Bible has been printed under the late Mr. Bagster's superintendence. It must be a great comfort to his surviving family to know that his has been, by God's mercy, a useful life.

THE WAVERLEY Sale, as might have been anticipated, brought together a large assemblage of Publishers, Printers, and Paper Makers, all equally curious as to the future owner of this extensive and valuable Property, and all doomed to the same disappointment: whether it was that the Trustees of Mr. Cadell's Estate were under the necessity of ascertaining beyond a doubt what is the real marketable value of the Property; or, whether it would not realise so much as they considered its value as a continued investment, for the family, we do not pretend to know, but it can never be expected to draw together again so numerous and so respectable a company, amongst whem certainly there were many qualified to judge of its value and able to become purchasers at a remunerative price. The Stock was put down to be taken by the purchaser of the Copyright at a valuation price of £10,109. 3s. and the Copyrights were eventually bought in at £13,500, the first bidding having been £5000.

On the 16th instant another valuable property will be submitted to competition, of hardly less interest to our numerous publishers-the CABINET CYCLOPÆDIA, originally commenced by Dr. Lardner. This work comprises 133 volumes, which include many copyrights of works by some of the greatest authors of age, and offers an extensive range for speculation in reprints.
