THIS DIRECTORY is intended to be a Means of Reference to the various Modes by which the Committee of Council, the National Society, and other Associations, aim at Promoting the Education of the People in the Principles of the Established Church.

Clergymen, and Promoters of Schools in general, will find in the work an answer to the numerous inquiries which they are called upon continually to make with respect to the Training of Teachers, and the Establishment, Support, Inspection, and Organisation of Schools.

Masters and Mistresses of Schools and Pupil-Teachers, as well as Candidates for the Office of Teacher, will find that The Directory contains a variety of matter particularly interesting to them, including abstracts of Prospectuses of all the Church-Training Institutions in England and Wales.

It is intended to continue the publication Annually, and the price (One Shilling) has been fixed at a low rate, in the expectation that the friends of Education will secure for it a large circulation.
