2012 LATIN PLAYS.-Loiola, 1648-Stoicus Vapulans, olim Cantabrigiæ actus 1648-Cancer, Comoedia, 1648-Paria actu corum Rege Carolo authore Tho. Vincent, 1648. 12mo, old calf gilt. 6s 2013 LEE (Nathaniel) Dramatick Works. 3 vols. 12mo, plts. cf. 10s 6d 1734 2014 LILLY (John, the Euphuist) Dramatic Works, now first collected, with

Notes, and some Account of his Life and Writings. By F.W. Fairholt. 2 vols. fcap. 8vo, finely printed by Whittingham, cloth. 10s - 1858 2015 LILLY.-The same, printed on LARGE PAPER (to match Dyce's Editions of Greene, Peele, Marlowe, &c.) 2 vols. post 8vo, cloth. 158 1858 Lilly was undoubtedly a man of genius. His works, his plays especially, are full of imagination and humour. They display great energy and activity of intellect, and sparkle upon occasion with genuine wit. He is worthy to rank in the noble brotherhood of generous and cultivated spirits who shine like lesser stars around the great central fire of Shakspeare. Ben Jonson must have rated him highly, to have named him in the commendatory verses on Shakspeare as one of the poet's "peers," with whom he would have contrasted him, had he thought posterity would care to know how far he did

66 our Lyly outshine,

Or sporting Kyd, or Marlowe's mighty line."

Shakspeare seems to have paid him the compliment of working out some of the ideas which occur in a crude state in his plays. Mr. Fairholt has done his work as editor well. His notes are good, brief, and to the purpose.-Literary Gazette.

Halliwell. 3 vols, fcap. 8vo, elegantly printed, cloth. 158 1856 The edition deserves well of the public; it is carefully printed, and the annotations, although neither numerous nor extensive, supply ample explanations upon a variety of interesting points. If Mr. Halliwell had done no more than collect these plays, he would have conferred a boon upon all lovers of our old dramatic poetry.-Literary Gazette.

Paris, 1834 2100 DUDLEY'S (Lord) Letters to the Bishop of Llandaff. 8vo, portrait and facsimile, cloth. 48 6d 1841 2101 DUGDALE'S Monasticon Anglicanum; a History of the Abbeys and other Monasteries, Hospitals, Friaries, and Cathedral and Collegiate Churches in England and Wales; and all such Scotch, Irish, and French Monasteries as were in any manner connected with the religious houses in England. With numerous additions, forming EIGHT VOLUMES IN FOLIO, half bound, morocco, containing 250 beautiful engravings (originally published at £141. 158). £20 1846

Very important work to collectors of engravings.

This new edition of the Monasticon is reprinted from that edited by Messrs. Caley, Ellis, and Bandinel (the First Part appearing in 1817), upon which those eminent antiquaries were employed from the year 1812 to its completion in 1830. From the mode of publication then adopted, the work passed slowly through the press during a peried of eighteen years, and consequently it was found impossible to keep up uniformity of paper and typography. The limited impression of 350 copies to which the last edition was confined, has in nowise injured the copper-plates, the greater part of which were executed by the late John Coney, from drawings made by him expressly for the work. The proprietors, owing to the improvements that have taken place, both in the manufacture of paper and in the art of copper-plate printing, are enabled to place before the public, at the comparatively low price of £25, a work superior to that for which the former subscribers paid no less than £141. 15s. 2102 DUGDALE (Sir W.) Origines Juridiciales; or Historical Memoriales of the English Laws, Courts of Justice, Forms of Tryal, Punishment in Cases Criminal, &c.; also a Chronologie of the Lord Chancellors and Keepers of the Great Seal, Justices, &c. Folio, portraits by Hollar and Loggan, numerous shields of arms, old calf gilt. £1.188 1680 2103 DUGDALE (Sir William) Perfect Copy of all Summons of the Nobility to the Great Councils and Parliaments of this Realm, from the 49th of King Henry the 3rd until these present times. Fol. cf. nt. 158 1685 2104 DUGDALE.-The Life, Diary, and Correspondence of Sir William Dugdale, the Antiquary. Edited by W. Hamper, F.S.A. Royal 4to, fine portrait, boards. 14s

1827 2105 DU MOLINET.-Figures des differents Habits des Chanoines reguliers en ce Siècle, avec un discours sur les Habits anciens et modernes des Chanoines tant seculiers que reguliers. 4to, 31 plates, old calf. 78 6d Paris, 1666 2106 DUNSTER'S Considerations on Milton's Early Reading, and the Prima Stamina of his Paradise Lost, together with Extracts from a Poet of the XVIth Century (Joshua Sylvester).
