the kindness of a friend, who has gratuitously assisted her in the compilation of the work. To God, whom she has found to be a friend of the widow and a father to her fatherless ones, would she devoutly commend it, hoping that it may be made, through his blessing, instrumental of good to many.

One thing should, in this place, be mentioned. Dr. D. had a strong desire that his sickness might be sanctified to his brethren in the ministry. He solemnly resolved, if his life should be spared, that he would, thro' the grace of God, preach Christ more fully, and affectionately, and constantly, than he had ever done-that he would be more intent on the salvation of souls. He earnestly entreated the Rev. Mr. Mallery to give his love to his ministering brethren, and to tell them from him to preach Christ more faithfully to the peoplepreach him mainly.

We now contemplate him in heaven, not engaged in laborious toil, but in delightful repose; not filled with painful anxiety, but with extatic emotions; not borne down with the solemn responsibilities of a minister of Christ; nor even employed in his high and holy work, but elevated in the presence of the Saviour, and in company with innumerable other spirits—redeemed by the same precious blood, bowing around his throne and singing with the sweetest melody the song of heaven. These are the thoughts that dwell in our minds respecting him who has entered the temple on high. Farewell, thou sainted spirit. May it be our privilege ere long to participate in the same scenes. Heaven grant us this bliss in Christ.

Ezek. xliii. 10, 11.

It can hardly seem less important that the minister of Christ should be equally particular in showing "the whole form" of "God's building," under the new dispensation; together with "all the ordinances" of divine service required to be observed in it. The object to be secured by such an exhibition of the gospel church is the same as that proposed to the ancient seer. It will make those who "measure the pattern," and see that they come
