OUNTRY ATTORNEY'S PRACTICE, by John Gray, Esq. Middle Temple, Barrister-at-Law, 5th Edit. 9s,' IN commencing a New Series, the publisher of this Circular cannot refrain from congratulating the Public (and he does so without any egotistical assumption on his part), on the vast number of Books that have been distributed in the literary world, at a price low beyond all precedent in the annals of Bookselling. The publisher, fearless of the censures of many of his brethren in trade, that were either unwilling or could not afford to sell at so cheap a rate, throws himself again on the liberality of those parties who have carried him so triumphantly through his undertaking. He has with unwearied diligence been constantly adding to a stock already immensely large, and he reflects with pleasure that many scientific and other literary productions must have found their way by his means to private and public libraries, and have added largely to the national instruction and amusement. The public have appreciated his exertions, and, stimulated by mutual advantages, he hopes, that his future career will be marked with the same reciprocal benefits. Although, in some few instances, complaints have been made as to delay, still the encouraging tone of the numerous parties who have in fact been benefited by this Circular, has amply atoned for this. Knowing how long it is before confidence can be established between parties so widely distant as himself and the major part of his Subscribers, (who are unable personally to inspect the condition of the Books,) he considers himself to be peculiarly fortunate in the treatment he has experienced, and the satisfaction so generally expressed. If time would allow, some amusement might be afforded by exhibiting the variations between the prices of Books of the present day, and those of some twenty years ago, which, together with the present far greater facilities of procuring them, do much in extending the diffusion of Mental Food.
