Excerpt: ...was the way in which some of them received it. Q. How does St. Paul say some of hem came? A. Some proud and murmuring, " some were hungry, and others drunken." Q. What happened to these Corinthians in conse--quence of their receiving it in this way? A. St. Paul says they were " chastened of the Lord." " For this cause many are weak and sickly, and many sleep." 1 Cor. xi. 30. Q. What did St. Paul command them to do'. A. " To examine themselves, and so to eat of that bread and drink of that cup." Q. How then must Christians go to that holy table? A. With humble, penitent, and believing hearts, and earnestly purposing to lead holy and consistent lives. " Q. What are those doing who refuse to come to this sacrament after they have reached the propei age for admission to it? A. They are disobeying a plain command of Christ, who said: "Do this in remembrance of Me," and " drink ye all of it." Q. What does St. John say of those who keep the Commandments? A. "Blessed are they that do Ilis Commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates of the city." Rev. xxii. 14. LESSON THIRTY-FIRST. Q, What means were taken by the primitive Church to impress on the minds of her members the scenes of the Gospel history? A. A train of Anniversaries and Holy Days, with appropriate services. Q. What did these services commemorate? A. The prominent events in our Redeemer's life and death, and the labors and virtues of the Apostles. Q.
