1039 INGLIS (Mrs. Richmond). Anna & Edgar; or, Love & Ambition. A Tale. Thin small 4to. Handsomely bound by Scott of Edinburgh, with his ticket, in full crimson morocco extra, the back gilt tooled, with designs of Roses and Harps, the sides richly gilt tooled, consisting of corner ornamentations, including musical instruments, two oval-shaped designs, composed of leaves and flowers, together with a Female figure, holding lance and shield, beneath which is a Chippendale ornament, containing a bird. g. e. Edinburgh, 1781.

An exceedingly fine example of Scotch 18th Century Binding.

Sir Samuel Morland (1625-1695) was one of the most famous inventors of his day, he
also took a prominent part in public affairs under Cromwell and the Restoration.
This calculating machine appears to have been a modification of one constructed by
Blaise Pascal about 1642.

Among the plates is a portrait of Donovan O'Brien on horseback, with a view of Limerick in the background; also portrait of King Charles I., with a circumstantiated account of his behaviour upon the scaffold.
