The Spanish Amadis contains only 13 books (the 12th and 13th I cannot specify), and is probably the original. Concerning other editions, compare Clément bibl. cur. I. 238. sqq. Also there belongs to it,

Cronica del principe D. Belianis. Burgos, 1587. fol. 2 voll.

Complete bibliographical information concerning Amadis is much wanted. Concerning this work generally, see Quadrio storia d'ogni poesia IV, 516 ss. Mélanges tir. d'une gr. bibl. XIV, 370 ss. Rogel and Agesilas (or 3 parts of Florisel). 13. Silvio de la Silva. 14-17. Sphæramont and Amadis d'Astre. 18-24. The remaining descendants of Amadis of Gaul. To which is added, as an appendix: 25. Florès de Grèce. 26. Chevalier du soleil. 27. Belianis. 28. Roman des Romans. Also Primaleon, Palmerin of Oliva and of England, Olivier of Castile, and the palladian history, are reckoned with this series of stories, but do not properly belong to it.
