says, Kappa is always well represented in alumni. We hope, however, to have some of its luminaries in embryo meet those of its members in the full glory of their honors at our next Thanksgiving dinner, on which occasion we expect a gathering of all the clans.

After the reading of the letters, Alfred Taylor, our newly elected President of the chapter, then started the speech-making in his usual happy vein, at the same time delivering his delayed inaugural address. He dilated upon the prosperous condition of Sigma Chi in general and the New York Alumni Chapter in particular and its bright prospects for the future, as well as the strengthening of Sigma Chi in the East.

Brother Leas followed, and, after his defense of charges made by the President in introducing him, returned good for evil by saying much in eulogy of brother Taylor in his work for Bucknell, of which both are Trustees.

Dr. Scratchley was then called upon. He touched upon different themes, all in regard to the advancement of fraternity interests, and he also delivered a lecture much needed by a great many of the members, owing to their treatment of the committees appointed for different purposes and their neglect or carelessness in not replying to the committee's letters.

As this was the first dinner that we have been successful in getting brother Mather to attend since his departure from the realms of bachelorhood, he was called upon to respond to the toast, "Married Men." This he handled with considerable success, considering the experience so short a time would allow.

There were no set toasts, all being impromptu, and each brother had his say.

As brother Taylor said in introducing the final speaker, he always liked to keep the good things to the last, so the flower of the evening was delivered by brother Gessler, as only he can deliver it, full of beauty and loyalty.

I cannot tell what we had to eat. I know there was an enormous abundance, sufficient to give me a nightmare and a thumping headache next day. As for drinks-an example well worthy of imitation-there was nothing stimulating, and it was not needed.

The speeches of the young men were bright, to the point, and showed conclusively that the speakers have learned to think clearly when set on end, an accomplishment of the highest value. The following were the toasts: "Sigma Chi-Its Corner-Stone and Fundamental Principle," Gen. Ben. P. Runkle; "Sigma Chi-Its Growth and Strength," H. L. Martin; "Sigma Chi as a Trade Mark," T. W. Robinson; "The Alumni and the Active Chapters," Hon. N. P. Conrey; and "The Silent Sig," L. R. Garrett. BEN. P. RUNKLE.

A SONG TO SIGMA CHI.

(Written for the new Sigma Chi Song Book.)

AIR FROM "WANG"-"A PRETTY GIRL."

There is no "frat" like Sigma Chi,
Where'er the light of day be;

There are no pins can with hers vie,
So bright and pure as they be.
There are no boys like Sigma Chis,
Where'er the light of day be,

And none as true, life's journey through,
As brave and bold as they be.

There is no "frat" like Sigma Chi,
Where'er the light of day be;

There are no colors borne as high
As gold and blue today be.

There are no girls like true "Sig" girls,
Where'er the light of day be,

And none as fair, as debonair,
As pure and chaste as they be.

J. A. HOLP, ALPHA SIGMA, EX-'96.
