The three candidates at this election were Sir Edward Ayscough, high steward of Grimsby, 27 votes; John Chaplin, Esq. high sheriff of the county, 27 votes; and Sir Thomas Barnardiston, recorder of Grimsby, 22 votes.

+ Mr. Arthur Moor appears to have retained the confidence of his constituents for a long period. He represented the borough in nine Parliaments, from his first return in 1695 until his final dismissal in 1722. He had his residence in Grimsby, and was elected to the office of high steward in 1714.
