This fine series of Historical Portraits is taken from pictures in the collection
formed at the Castle of Ambras, in the Tyrol, by the Archduke Ferdinand, during the
latter half of the sixteenth century.

The portraits are ascribed to Dominic Custos of Augsburg, who is supposed to
have worked from drawings by Giov. Bat. Fontana.
