[This is the first appearance in print of these three

poems, although the first and second parts of "Christabel" were written in 1797 and 1800. This poem, never finished, was published at the instance of Lord Byron. "Kubla Khan was composed during a three-hour sleep, and the fragment of 54 lines was written on the poet's awakening, the remainder being forgotten when he was interrupted by a visitor. [The rarity of this sought-after volume is due to the fact that Collins destroyed as many copies as he could find because it met with such neglect upon its publication by Millar. The author came to London practically penniless, and later, upon receiving a legacy from a relative, remunerated the publisher for his loss, and destroyed the work. Issued without half-title. These odes are exceedingly fine, despite the cold reception the unappreciative public accorded them. This copy measures 8 by 5 inches. The Ashley copy measures 7 by 4 in.
