[A most exceptional and desirable copy, containing the 3 11. of text. These 3 11. of text were, it is believed, absent in the William C. Dulles copy, which was in orig. boards. Apparently the Dulles copy was the only other copy to be sold at public sale in America, and the present copy is believed to be the only copy containing the 3 11. of text to be sold at public sale in America. The plates, which are brilliant impressions, comprise :-How to go to cover, How to appear at cover, How to ride down hill, How to take a leap, How to go through an overflow, and How to take the lead.]

The impressions and colouring are of a delicate brilliancy, and are a fine representation of the exciting incidents that befall a sportsman.]

[The plates have always been considered and catalogued as the work of Henry Alken, who undoubtedly engraved them. But not until these original labels on the reverse of each plate definitely stated the artist has it been known that the series was drawn by I. D. Paul.]

[Phillips (No. 523) calls for 150 maps. Many of the maps in the above volume have been done by Nicolaum Visscher. Others by F. de Wit, etc. One map bears the

date 1659, and Phillips assigns the date 1696 as a tentative one for the atlas described in his work, of which this is evidently an edition with fewer maps.] Allen (Hervey). "The Blindman" was written by the author at Base Hospital, 68, France, in August, 1918, while he was serving as lieutenant in the Great War. This poem was sent to The Atlantic Monthly, and, after having been rejected, Amy Lovell used her influence in having it accepted by The North American Review. See also Feb. 14, $12.50.1
