[Fine copy in a perfect binding. Pascal's "Les Pensées" has always been one of the most important books of the 18th century, and this edition of 1683 marks the transformation of his masterpiece, as up to that time the only text accepted was the Port-Royal or Jansenist one, of 1670. In this edition of 1684 Desprez added several new Pensées," and the famous work "Filleau de la Chaise," which became Discourse sur les Pensées de M.
