Copies having the year 1548 (Ven., Gherardo) in vol. I. are less sought after. The edition, Ven., Als. de Viano, 1566. 8°. 2 vols. is incorrect.

605 ANDREAS Capellanus. Tractatus amoris et de amoris remedio Andree capellani pape Innocentii

quarti ad Gualter. Incipit felicit. Without place or date, small fol. Gothic letter.

77 unnumbered leaves, without catchwords, signatures, and pagination: in a full page 34 to 36 lines. The book commences on the reverse of the first leaf: Incipiut tituli capitulor. tractato amoris et de amoris remedio. In the recto of the third leaf is the commencement of the book itself with the above-mentioned title. On the reverse of the 77th leaf is the following colophon: Explicit tractato amoris et d' remedio p Andrea cappellanu jnnocencij pape quarti editu. See also Freytag Nachr. v. selt. BB. 262.

This very rare work is most important on account of the oldest judgments of the court of love therein contained. Consult Millin voy. en Fr. II. 263. The original is Latin, but there also are to be found at Munich and Florence MSS. of an Italian translation of the 14th century.

606 - erotica s. amatoria Andreæ Capellani regii, nunquam antehac edita, nunc tand. fide diversor. MSS. codd. emissa a Dethmaro Mulhero. Dorpmundæ, 1610. 8°.

With a new title, Tremonia, 1614. 8°. This edition, faulty in itself, is printed from MSS., since the first edition was unknown to the editor, and serves often for the correction of the preceding. One part of this work, Latin, with the Italian and Hartlieb's German translation, is in Cp. v. Aretin Aussprr. d. Minnegerichte. Münch. 1803. 8°. who however knew nothing of the three foregoing editions, and thought the work had never been printed.

Nothing else but a literal, yet often harsh and unpolished translation of the above work. How Hartlieb could name in the title Ovid as the author, and leaf 2, Albertanus, one does not comprehend. Besides an edition, without place and date, fol. (Panzer deutsche Ann. 55.) also, Augsp., Ant. Sorg, 1482 (the only known copy is The at Munich), and ib. id. 1484. fol. original MS. is at Vienna.
