This volume contains the proceedings of the first conference ever of the two professional organizations, Computer Applications and Quantitive Methods in Archaeology (CAA), and the Union International des Sciences Préhistorique et Protohistorique (UISPP), Commission IV. The conference was held (April 2000) in Ljubljana, and brought together experts and members of two of the largest professional organizations in computer and quantitative methods in archaeology. Fifty-six papers from the conference are presented in the collected proceedings.
