[Grolier's copy. A rare type of his bindings, and a magnificent specimen. The binding is of brown calf, decorated with handsome stamped corner-pieces of elaborate intertwining pattern on an azured gold ground; the title, Hieronimus Cardanus / De Rererum Varietate, is stamped on an oblong inlay of black morocco in the centre. Rebacked, but on the whole in good condition. This type of Grolier binding is rare, and no other specimen in private hands is known. Sold as a binding.
