Dental caries is responsible for the destruction and demineralization process that
affects the enamel, dentin, and cementum. All age groups are susceptible hosts
to dental decay. There are several theories about the etiology of caries.
The proliferating lamina leads to the formation of the shallow invagination of each
bud into the oral tissue. From this, three distinct areas for each tooth develop. The
first is the enamel organ, which is responsible for the formation of enamel.
