AGRICULTURAL REPORT. HE wheats of Sussex, and particularly the produce of the last harvest, have risen Texceedingly well from the stalk, and are generally of excellent quality. Many farmers in the Wealds have nearly completed their sowing that species of grain for the ensuing year, for which the long continuance of the fiue weather has been particularly aupicious. The turnip crops are universally abundant, but the fields are unusually for: they, nevertheless, bid fair for a general crop. Peas are not likely to yield well. The hop plantations have afforded a very partial produce. The large importations of Merino sheep, and the indifferent fleeced sheep, with the number of Negrette and Paular ewes already imported, will enable this country, in a short time, to tran fer the great mart for Merino wool from Spain to England. The markets for fine wool have experienced a further declension. Price of meat in Smithfield Market:-Beef, 4s. Od. to 5s. Od ;-Mutton, 4s. 8d. to 5s. 8d.;-Veal, 5s. 4d. to 6s. 4d. ;-Pork, 6s. Though this question has long been, and probably will again be, warmly agitated by gentlemen of research and learning, I hope, however they may differ in their opinions, that they will not be influenced by any narrow interest or party prejudice to bias their judgments, while they are turning over the doubtful pages of history, or searching the records of passed times, for information to settle a disputed point, and to fix on the different ranks in society which at first composed the great council of the a One of Petyt's principal arguments was, that populous was mentioned at very early date in the great council of the nation; and that our Norman kings were crowned assensu tam clari, quam populi; and therefore he contended that we must look for the origin of the representation of the people in a remote period of our history.
