Malay; Chittagong; Domesticated Kulm Fowl, or Gigantic Cock, of some writers; and Java Fowl.

Origin. This is another breed of Asiatic origin; at first introduced from the peninsula after which it is named, and which is situated on the extreme southern point of the Indian continent. They have long been domesticated in this country, and probably in Ireland also; although Mr. Nolan of Dublin claims to have imported the first true Malays, which he purchased in the London Docks, they having been brought direct from the Malay peninsula. Some years since frequent importations of these fowls took place at Falmouth, out of the East Indiamen that touched at that port. It is said that the breed is also met with in the Isles of Sumatra and Java; but it is tolerably certain that they are not natives of those places, but have in all probability been introduced thither by the Mussulmen. In the American Poultry Book mention is made of the following sub-varieties,"Bucks County," "Jersey Blues," and "Boobies;" but as no account of their origin is attempted to be given, we strongly suspect that they are nothing but crosses, of which our friends on the other side of the Atlantic are remarkably fond, as a means of exercis
