The font is plain, and the church is well pewed; it is kept very clean, and contains several handsome marble tablets. We noticed them as follows.

In the south aile Josephus Burton Gen. biit, Septembris MDCCLXI. in anno Etatis suæ LXXII, Thomas Burton Gen. Filiusque illius obiit 27 die Decembris MDCCLXII. in anno Etatis suæ 46.

In the chancel. Sacred to the memory of Jolin Essington, Gent. who died the 28 of Oct. 1791, in the 67. year of his age.

Another. Near this place lieth interred the body of the Rev. John Towers vicar of this parish, and Threekingham 50 years, who departed: this life Nov. 3. 1802 aged 82 years.

Another in the north wall, in latin,

To the memory of the Rev. Robert Kelham, vicar of this parish, Threekingham, and Walcof, 50 years, he died in 1752, aged 75 years.

The church is dedicated to St. Andrew, it is vicarage valued in the King's books at 61. 1s. 8d Patron Earl Fortescue. The oldest register is in 1561.

The School.

When the school here was founded is not known. There are at present three donations. One is a house, and three acres of land; another a rent charge of 61. per annum, on the Toller estate; and the other an estate lying in Gosberton, of about 7 acres, which lets for about 13). per annum.

MODERN STATE.

Earl Fortescue is the lord of the manor. The number of acres of land is about 2100, the soil is gravel, with silt upon clay. About equal portions of pasture and arrable. The fences of the old inclosure, quick thorn hedges, of the fen ditches. The mode of managing the arrable, two crops and one fallow. Tithes exonerated

on an inclosure which took place anno 1768. The principal proprietors of land are Earl Fortescue, W. Westmoreland Esq. John Foulkes Esq. and J. W. Burton Esq.

SCOTT WILLOUGHBY.

Is a small village, consisting of two houses, iu the wapentake of Aveland, in the parts of Kesteven, about 5 miles N. W. of Folkingham.

Domesday Account,

Land of Wido de Reinbuedcurt. In Wilgebi (Willoughby) Leuric had three carucates of land and two oxgangs to be taxed. Land to four ploughs. Wido de Reinbuedcurt has there two ploughs in the demesne, and ten sokemen with tén oxgangs of this land, and three bordars having two ploughs and a half. There are. .....

priests having thirty seven deres and a half of land; threy pay a customary rent of sixteen pence. Vido has soke over a fourth part of the church of the same village, and thirty acres of meadow, and twenty eight acres of coppice wood, Value in King Edward's time seven pounds, now four. Tallaged at twenty shillings.

Land of Waldin Brito. In. Wilgebi (Willoughby) Uluiet had fifteen oxgangs of land to be taxed. Land to three ploughs and six oxen. Waldin has there two ploughs, and eight villanes with two ploughs, and fifty-six acres of meadow. Value in King Edward's time forty-shillings, now twenty shillings.

Land of Odo Arbalistarius. In Wilgebi (Wil. loughby) Regenald had two oxgangs of land 'to be taxed. Land to four oxen. Colegrim a vassal of Odo's, has there one bordar-and one ox in a plough, and eight acres, of meadow. Value ja King Edward's time ten shillings, now five.

Land of Wido de Credon. In Wilgebi (Willoughby) Wido has soke over half the church and over the priest who belongs to Osberuby.
