One of those, which is west of the church, and now inhabited by Mrs. Oliver, has been much larger than it is at present. It extended westerly much farther, and had a porch with a foot way through it. It belongs to Sir Gilbert Heathcote. The other, which is S. E. of the church, is occupied by Mr. Ed. Porter, and belongs to Ed. Brown Esq.

The Church,

Is a strong Gothic building, consisting of three ailes, a chancel, and low spire steeple. In and near the chancel, are several Piscina, or lavatories, used in the times of Papacy; the east window contains a good deal of painted glass; on one pane is the figure of a monk, there are also some coats of arms. The pillars are some round and some clustered, the seats are chiefly stalls, and the pulpit neat. Here is a very handsome font, covered with beautiful foliage; it is round and very low. On entering the chancel on each side is a fine saxon arch. This church is very ancient.
