Accordingly, every election to serve in this newly gathered Order is to be interpreted into an event flowing out of the knowledge of the works of these great benefactors of their kind, and resulting from the diffusion of that knowledge in the particular country in which such election is laid to have taken place: while the whole elected assembly is to be regarded as the creature of the univer sality of the diffusion of these works of genius through the countries of the whole earth. The end proposed being to shew the application of knowledge in the election of a supreme religious and secular administra tion.
