Sehr interessantes und äusserst seltenes satirisches Blatt. Rechts sägt
Joseph II. der holländischen Kuh die Hörner ab, England nimmt ihr einen
Fuss weg, Katharina II. einen andern, Friedrich II. von Preussen (eine vor-
treffliche und unverkennbare Karrikatur!) den Schwanz. Davor steht brüllend
der belgische Löwe. Links davon wird der Prinz von Holland (Wilhelm V.)
von Frauen über einen Stuhl gelegt und mit Ruten gezüchtigt.

Very interesting satirical plate. It appears by
intercepted letter from general Kleber dated" Alexandria, 5 frimaire, 7th year
of the Republic" that, when his Garrison was obliged to retire into the New-
Town at the approach of the Turkish Army under the Pacha of Rhodes, a party
of the Scavans, who had ascended Pompey's Pillar for scientific purposes,
was cut off by a band of Bedouin Arabs, who having made a large pile of straw
and dry reeds at the foot of the pillar, set fire to it, and rendered unavailing
the gallant defence of the learned Garrison, of whose catastrophe the above
design is intended to convey an idea." At the right a balloon (,,La
Diligence d'Abissynie"), hit by a bullet is droping
down. Its passengers fall on the lances of the Bedouins.

This interesting satirical plate represents: a harlequine beating a bust of the king, in his hand he holds a paper with the inscription: Prevogative. Behind him is standing a man with the exterior of an eagle. Above the bust of the king, sceptre and crown fastened to a balloon are hanging in the air. Very scarce.
