On leaf A4 beneath the Life of Mr. John Milton is written in ink, By Edward Philips his Nephew." GOOD COPY.

4to, bound in full mottled calf, richly tooled gilt back, corner ornaments, gilt inside borders, carmine edges, by W. PRATT. A few leaves remargined, and some trimmed close at top edges. Leaf of Dedication to Ladie Elizabeth Clere (Eee 3) missing. The Dedication to the Earl of Nottingham is also missing, but, according to LOWNDES, this leaf was suppressed.

This work was edited by RICHARD Niccols, who wrote the two additional pieces. BEST EDITION, comprising all three of the earlier parts in one volume.

Small folio, Black Letter, bound in full dark brown morocco, paneled gilt back, richly tooled, gilt ornament in centers and corners, inside morocco borders, gilt edges, by FRANCIS Bedford. Title has been neatly mounted, and a few leaves most skillfully repaired. Lower corner of last leaf repaired, a portion supplied. The Colophon not affected. BOOKPLATE of CORNELIUS PAINE. There is sufficient evidence of the labor of a bookworm on its leaves to make the book attractive.

EXTREMELY RARE. This copy has the eight leaves of Poems which "Mayfter Thomas More wrote in his yonth for his pastime," also the UNPAGED LEAF between pp. 1138 and 1139 WHICH WAS SUBSEQUENTLY PRINTED and ADDED TO THE WORK. GOOD COPY.

A BOOK OF EXCESSIVE RARITY. There was no copy in the Bibl. Angl. Poet. (1815), but in a note, reference is made to this as "AN EXTREMELY RARE VOLUME." The BINDLEY Copy sold for £20 in 1819, and the only other one that can be traced (a poor copy) sold at the CORSER sale for twelve guineas.
