Over de auteur (2000)

Herbert Blumer (1900-1987), formerly chairperson, department of sociology at the University of California, Berkeley, was the theoretical and methodological leader of "symbolic interactionism," and was identified as its foremost proponent for a half-century. His publications include works on industrial relations, research methods, mass society, collective behavior, race relations, and social movements.

Standford M. Lyman is Robert J. Morrow Eminent Scholar and Professor of Social Science at Florida Atlantic University. He is the author and editor of numerous books, including "The Seven Deadly Sins: Society and Evil"; "Civilization: Discontents, Malcontents, and Other Essays in Social Theory"; and "Militarism, Imperialism and Racial Accomodation: An Analysis and Interpretation of the Early Writings of Robert E. Park".

Arthur J. Vidich is Senior Lecturer and Professor Emeritus of Sociology and Anthropology at the New School for Social Research. He is the author of Small Town in Mass Society; Class, Politics and Religion in a Plural Community and numerous other books. He is senior editor and founder of the "International Journal of Politics, Culture, and Society".
