A very magnificent work, of which only 250 copies were printed. The types were cast expressly to imitate the letters of the MS. The Codex Bezæ contains more remarkable readings than any MS. hitherto discovered, and is supposed to be one of the oldest extant, and to have been written upwards of fourteen hundred years ago. BIBLIA SACRA LATINA, MANUSCRIPT ON VELLUM, VERY EARLY, minutely written in a very beautiful manner in double columns, the Capitals illuminated and elegantly flourished down the margins, very thick 4to. calf, gilt leaves, in excellent preservation, £16. 10s.

THIS RARE AND HANDSOME EDITION was printed at the cost of various publishers whose names occur to their copies. The only copy noticed by Dr. Cotton with Walley's name, is at Bristol. The above, with the exception of first title and five following leaves (before the Exhortation and table), is a very sound and desirable copy, having the four other title-pages in fine state.

The prologues in this edition gave such offence to the clergy that they were omitted in all the authorized versions in Henry VIIIth's reign. The above wants first title and part of Calendar, and after Chap. XI. in Revelation, otherwise tolerably sound.

Very rare; being the only folio Bible allowed to be printed in English during the reign of Queen Mary, who is said to have caused the destruction of nearly the whole impression. The disputed verse (1 John V. vii.) is printed in Roman Letters, and in parentheses. The above is a very perfect copy with the exception of preliminary leaf, and the title admirably facsimiled.
