Containing the Poem of l'Infanticide, pp. 53-59, PRINTED IN RED. Xavier Formerat belonged to the school of Charles Baudelaire, and was one of the most remarkable of the young poets of the second French empire. Nearly the whole of this edition disappeared during the siege of Paris, and the reign of the Commune in 1870; only a few copies escaped destruction, of which this is one, the author himself met with an early death in the struggle with Germany.
