I just added this book although I have had it for a few years.
Cooper appeared on the Black History Stamp for 2009. I needed to know about her. Born in North Carolina two years before the end of slavery. She attended and graduated from Oberlin College and began to write about the position of Black women in the South. A position that she extended to all women -- making her one of the first feminist in America. To cut this short she was a school teacher and principal of a school in Washington DC. A major educator. She made sure that her staff earned doctorates from Columbia. She herself was close to age 1oo when she earned her doctorate from the Sorbonne. I found several different reasons to learn all that I can from Cooper's life ( )
