Loading... The Oxford Movement: Twelve Years, 1833-1845 (edition 2013)by Richard William Church (Author)An examination of the movement of the 1840s in which a faction of the Anglican church wanted to force a re-think of certain principles; ultimately, this faction was put down, and some of its adherents went to the Roman Catholic Church. The author of this book did not, but he is moderately sympathetic to the members of the faction, without, however, being silent about their tactical miscues and faults. One probably needs to have a deeper understanding of theological matters to get the full impact of the book, but still, something of an interesting insight into academic factionalism. |
