Epic has often been seen as a dead genre, intrinsically patriarchal and nationalistic. However, this work shows how contemporary texts such as Derek Walcott's ""Osmeros"" challenge these traditional notions and proceeds to redefine epic poetry in terms of its recursive qualities.
