Characters: Dad and some bystanders

Setting: Park

Theme: It only takes something funny to lighten peoples' day

Genre: Comedy

Summary: The poem in this book being reviewed is titled "Daddy Fell Into the Pond" by
Alfred Noyes

This is a short poem about first the people the area are gloomy and seem like they are not having a pleasant day. As soon as the narrator's father falls into the pond, everyone around lightens up and is more merrily. It also talks about taking an image what was happening and how everyone around could not hold themselves calm.

Audience: Children

Curriculum ties: Ties to comedy and humor.

Personal response: In a public place, it is sometimes difficult to adjust to an environmetn when you see everyoen around your being gloomy and not enjoying their day. But it is great when something happens to break that silence. I think that this occasionally happens in the elevator because that is when everyone tries to be silent. But as soon as someone says something silly or acts in a way that is not quiet, you get a reaction that will break the silence. ( )
