A very mixed bag, by no means all what I would call "light" --a lot of traditional ballads, for instance -- starting with "The Song o fLewes" and Chaucer (Miller's Tale and Wife of Bath's Prologoue and ending with John Bejteman on the accession of Edward VIII. A favorite book of mine when young, especially for Burns ("Welcome to His Daughter" and "Holy Willie's Prayer" ) and some of the American ballads like "Stagolee" and "Frankie and Johnny." ( )
